Perran and Carenza are currently in the middle of their exams with this week being very busy for Carenza in particular.  Perran has only two exams this week, but both scheduled for the same morning.  Carenza has fought off a cold but poor old Perran is on his second lot of antibiotics for tonsillitis.

I am gaining a guilty pleasure from the fact that I am needed once more as a mother – shooing them up to bed before it gets too late, making them hot milky drinks to help them sleep.

It is lovely to have them at home so much, revising, although Perran can concentrate better in school and heads off there.

And we have fallen back into the routine that we developed during Pascoe’s exams of all stopping whatever we’re doing at about half past nine and watching some TV, often a sitcom so that all those revision facts aren’t still buzzing round their heads at bedtime.

From a parent’s point of view then, the exam season seems ideal – like having much younger children again.  Don’t get me wrong: I’m pleased that Both Perran and Carenza usually have rich and busy social lives, but it’s pleasant that, just for a couple of weeks, they’ve slowed down.

Drolls and Weirds - Robert had heard stories of beautiful fairy children reared by humans - they were called changelings - But of course, he did not believe in them. Read the latest chapter of my story of love and mystery set in Cornwall by clicking here. Or read from the start.
